CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

Job Description

The Construction Estimator position will be office based and requires a high level of computer software / technological skills; Company is currently uses HeavyBid construction estimating software. Individual will need to have ability to visit customers and project sites on an as needed basis. This position salary is based on experience level and 401K profit sharing bonus are based on individual success!

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and estimates budget costs for underground utilities construction projects
  • Evaluates offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and costing changes
  • Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting info
  • Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans
  • Collaborate with engineers, customers, subcontractors etc. to determine the specifications of the project
  • Follow client policies, procedures, and project control requirements to plan, organize, monitor, control and report project status and ensure financial/operating costs are within budget
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment & materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Evaluate progress, prepare detailed Project Status Reports, and provide regular updates to the team and clients
  • Effectively manage projects’ operations and schedules. Ensuring all projects on time and within budget while meeting the high-quality standards required by our company and our clients
  • Review drawings and specifications for completeness and general compliance with commonly accepted engineering/ construction best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or construction management, or a 2-year degree in engineering technology and 5+ years of related job experience, or 10+ years of related Construction Estimating / Construction Project Management experience is preferred
  • Civil / Site / Utilities Construction Project estimating, scheduling and change order experience is required
  • Experience with Heavy Bid and / or Heavy Job estimating software or similar estimating software a plus
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera or similar construction / engineering project management software a plus
  • Ability to read and understand construction / engineering plans and specifications
